We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

It is a family affair and we are all located right here in the Lone Star State of Texas! We could not imagine a life without reading books and don't think anyone else should either.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

Well, one of us in this Lone Star family served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Kingdom of Lesotho and worked with the African Library Project from 2010-2012. That would be "Amy Jo." Amy Jo just fell in love with the African Library Project and the work that they do and spread the word stateside to her family. At that point, the whole Carson family got involved. Since then, Amy Jo got hitched and now the husband (Drew Kahn) and his family have joined in, too! Hence, the Lone Star book drive series begins. WARNING: Building Libraries to promote reading and literacy is addictive!

Please contribute these kinds of books...

For the Lesotho schools, we need books for Preschool - Young Adults reading levels.

Here's how you can contribute your books...

If you are in the Austin, San Antonio, Dallas or Houston greater areas, I can coordinate pick up of the books you would like to donate. If you are outside of Texas, you would most likely have to mail the books to my home address, so making a donation for the international shipping costs would be the most ideal for out of state folks to support this project. In addition any one in the USA can do their own book drive for any of the African countries where we currently operate. It is really fun to do and you are making a GLOBAL IMPACT!

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

If you would like to make a donation for the international shipping costs, please contact me and I will give you the methods for donating to my book drives specifically either by check or on-line.
