Park Forest Elementary School's African Library Project

10/12/2015 to 12/31/2015
State College PA

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

We are a third grade class at Park Forest Elementary School in the State College Area School District. We are currently learning about Africa and all of the different countries that make up this diverse continent.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

As we learn about Africa during our social studies unit, Mr. Reitz's third grade class recognizes the need for exposure to literacy in cities all across the world, including cities in Africa. We know that reading is so important in our lives, and we want to share the wonder of reading with students who may lack access to appropriate literature. In partnership with Park Forest Elementary School, we are collecting books to ship to a primary library in Swaziland. We are so excited to be able to share literature with our friends across the globe!

Here's how you can contribute your books...

Please bring your books to Park Forest Elementary School. When you enter the school building, there will be a collection box in the main entrance hallway. Look out for the Africa decor, and you'll know you're in the right place!
