Ansh's Botswana Library Book Drive - "For Hungry Minds"

09/08/2015 to 12/10/2015
Redmond WA

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Hello, My name is Ansh. I am 11 years old and I study in 6th grade at Willows Prep School in Redmond, WA. Apart from sports, reading books is my favorite pastime! My mother, Sangeeta Verma, is guiding me in organizing this book drive. It's my very first volunteering project and need your help to achieve this ambitious goal of collecting 1000 books and $500 to cover shipping costs.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

I am fortunate to have access to books and libraries in my area BUT many children in remote areas of African countries do not have access to books at all. Sometimes, even their teachers don't have access to books to teach their students!
Sending books to less privileged children in Botswana will help them learn English apart from exposing them to a new world. Remember, English is not their first language!!
Literacy will help these kids build a better future for themselves, their future generations and in becoming global citizens of world!!!

About our African Partners...

Our books will be sent for setting up a primary library for Nkange primary school in Botswana. This school has 641 students and 22 teachers. We will be shipping books to a warehouse in New Orleans from where these books will be shipped in containers via sea to Africa. Students in Nkange school are looking forward to our shipment:)

Here's how you can contribute your books...

We will come and pick up the books from your location and also give you a star status on our web page:)

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

Apart from collecting 1000 books for the library, I need to raise $500 in funds for shipping these books to Africa. You can donate cash or by checks. Ever dollar counts.

Here are some ways that you can help...

Please Donate books as listed in above categories OR money..
