Jake's Book Drive for the Kisuguna Primary School in Kenya

06/14/2019 to 08/15/2019
Metuchen NJ

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Hi, I am James Gwozdz! I am going to be a junior at Saint Joesph High School, in Metuchen, New Jersey. I love to follow any type of sport, especially college football, and I enjoy reading books about Greek and Roman Mythology.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

One of my teachers and Campus Ministry Advisor at my school told me about the idea of doing a book drive for kids in Africa and I loved the idea from the beginning. I know that I have been given a lot of help by other people in my life right now and I want to return the favor by helping those who do not have the same resources I do.

About our African Partners...

The books and money donated will be utilized by children from the Kisuguna Primary School in Kenya. This book drive will serve 771 students and books will be put into a library that can be open to students and members in the community. Their library will be located within the school compound and will be well ventilated, have shelves, tables, and chairs, which is a great environment for reading.

Please contribute these kinds of books...

Of the 1000 books that will be collected, 2/3 of the books collected should be preschool - 4th grade books, and 1/3 of the books collected should be 4th- 8th grade books.
