We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! This book drive for the African Library Project was put together by a group of dedicated Arlington High students in the Community Service committee in our school's chapter of the National Honor Society in Arlington Massachusetts. All it takes to change lives and open a library in Kenya is 1,000 books and $500! We are super excited to be running this book drive and to have the opportunity to help further education worldwide and we hope you can help!

We want to start a library in Africa because...

We want to give other people access to the kind of opportunity that we have been given. We were very lucky to get 4 years of secondary education and access to resources like the National Honor Society. When we were younger, books were a very important part of our lives and our interest in school, from being read to when we were Pre-School age, to the excitement of being able to read on our own. We want to be able to share this passion and opportunity with other kids so they can be feel empowered and able to continue their education and impact the world with their voice.

About our African Partners...

Your donations will build a Primary Community Library in Kenya. This will be used to further the literacy and passion for learning in all ages of kids from pre-school to 8th grade! It will be used by the school, but will also be open to the community. Our partner currently has a library with academic books, but are looking for books for kids to read for pleasure to create a lively library!
