Interacting with Africa

2/25/2019 to 05/10/2019
O'Fallon IL

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Interact Club is a high school community service club through Rotary International. Every year we choose an international project and various community endeavors to serve our fellow man locally and globally. Interact Club is sponsored by Mrs. Jessica Day.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

Literacy is power! Interact Club has already raised funds to build numerous clean-water wells in Malawi, so now that basic health has been addressed, we would like to focus on education.

About our African Partners...

are located in Northern Malawi, in a village named Kasuluwa. Most people in this quaint village are farmers on subsistence farms. There is no electricity and no access to clean water in this village, but many individuals are committed to helping build this library, including Headmaster Pius K. Tembo, to provide educational opportunities for it's youth.

Please contribute these kinds of books...

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

A fundraiser run by Akira Howard is continuing. Please consider buying a bracelet from her for $10 or sponsoring a shipping box for $25.
If you sponsor a box, you can include a note, pictures, etc. to share with the members of your library community.

Here are some ways that you can help...

We would love help paying for shipping, book and packing tape donations, or help bringing books to the post office.
