African Library Project

Harambee for books

07/12/2019 to 08/16/2019
San Diego CA

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

My name is Rishabh Jain. I, along with my younger brother Prateek, hope to do as much as we can to support the African Library Project in their mission to bring books to children in sub-Saharan Africa.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

We believe that every child, everywhere, should have the opportunity to read and explore our incredibly amazing world through books. Books can open minds, and unleash the creativity and imagination that will lay the foundation for an even better future world. What we in the Western world take for granted, is a precious commodity in rural Africa. When our mother showed my brother and I the videos on the ALP website about how some children in Africa struggle to get books, we realized how lucky we are to have access to books and decided to help out in whatever little way we can. Even the smallest of contributions can help create a reader and change a life.

About our African Partners...

The recipient of our books will be Makoanyane Primary School Library in Lesotho.

Please contribute these kinds of books...
