African Library Project

Books for literacy

01/12/2019 to 04/30/2019
Milpitas CA

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

We are a group of six friends in elementary and middle school. We love helping others and want to help make the world a better place.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

We all love to read books so we want other kids in the world to be able to enjoy books.

About our African Partners...

We are collecting books for Malawi. The type of library that we are trying to build is a secondary community library.

Please contribute these kinds of books...

For our secondary community library, we need to collect books from preschool to 8th-grade level reading. They should be new or gently used. We would like it if you could try to donate mostly paperback books due to the fact that hardcover books are heavier and will make it cost more to ship them.

Here's how you can contribute your books...

Please drop off the books at:
Merryhill School, Milpitas
on the weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

We need approximately $500 to pay for the shipping fees, but because it may cost more due to other complications, our goal is to raise $800. All the extra money will be donated to another charity.

Here are some ways that you can help...

We would like if you could donate money, donate books, and ask other people to donate.
