Bryce's African library project

03/03/2018 to 06/01/2018
Rockville MD

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

I am Bryce, I love to play soccer, baseball and video games. I am in Middle school. I am doing this library project for a second time. My family did one when I was 10 and now I am 12. I love to travel and see the world. I have been to Africa before, I went to Uganda. I think that this will be just as fun as the first one I did.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

I think giving books to people who don't have access to books otherwise is really important. The adult literacy rate in Malawi is 65.75%. This shows that almost half the population didn't have access to books as kids and do not know how to read. This is why I think that this library is so important, one little action like this can make a huge difference.

About our African Partners...

I'm collecting books for a secondary school in Malawi. The name of the school I am shipping to is Mpando Community Day Secondary School.

Please contribute these kinds of books...

If you have any 4th through 8th grade books to spare that would be perfect to donate. I am looking for all types of books to pique all readers' interests.

Here's how you can contribute your books...

My book drive started March 3rd and ends June 1st. You can contact my parents to coordinate a book pickup.

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

To ship these books I will need approximately $500. $250 to ship to New Orleans and $250 to ship to Malawi. If you would like to contribute by donating to help shipping costs, I can accept cash, checks, spare change, and credit cards (please contact my mom below to use her square reader.)

Here are some ways that you can help...

You can help by donating books or money I would really appreciate your help to make this a success.
