We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Hi! We are two high school students who live in Atlanta, Georgia. We are both passionate readers and learners and want to share this passion with kids all around the world. We hope to provide books and learning materials to eager learners in Bunbon and inspire these children to follow their dreams. We know 1000 books may seem like a lot, but we are confident we can reach this goal with your help!

Help us give children the gift of learning by donating books or money to build a library in the small town of Ghana.

About our African Partners...

We have been matched with Bunbon RC Junior High School in Ghana. Bunbon is a small town located in Yendi District in the northern region of Ghana. The majority of parents in Bunbon and its surrounding communities are peasant farmers with a population of over 3,000. There is one public primary school and one Junior High School serving children in the Community and about 5 surrounding communities and Children in this school fall between the ages of 4 and 15 years old. Due to lack of reading materials, students have no means to engage in learning after school. Therefore, they develop poor reading skills, which affects their overall academic performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). When this happens, parents take advantage of the situation to engage them in farm work and other household chores like fetching water and firewood instead of sending then back to school. By establishing the library, we hope to create an opportunity for a new life where children can develop good reading habits and skills and improve upon their academic performance in the long run.
