"Rise Up" Book Drive

01/26/2018 to 04/07/2018
Falls Church VA

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

True Tribe Co was founded to raise awareness of the struggle for literacy and quality education in many foreign countries, with a special focus on countries in Africa. Each year, Founder Anna Robbins, partners with The African Library Project in an effort to collect 1000 books and $500 to build a library in Africa. This year's book collection will be working to build a library in Ghana for the Future Academy Fabi.

The goal is to collect 1,000 gently used books: preschool-8th grade as well as $500 to cover the shipping cost of books to ALP warehouse in New Orleans, and off to Ghana!

We want to start a library in Africa because...

I love my African heritage as well as the power of education! I spent a summer living in Uganda working for a non-profit organization and made some powerful relationships while there. Prior to that experience, I served as African Student President and Senator at both Weber State University and the university I graduated from, Brigham Young University. My first attempt at a business entrepreneur endeavor was in 2015 where I sold African print headbands. These experiences also changed my life. I love the power of community, the power of individuals rising to the occasion to serve and give back, and the power of education! I don't want to start just one library in Africa! I plan to start many more!

About our African Partners...

The library I will be starting is open to the community, but at a primary-JHS in Ghana called Future Academy in Fabi. Future Academy is a school that "believes in the power of community and not the glory of individuals...". I am super excited to partner with this school, and eventually go to Africa to see the library complete!
