Jaden's Ghana Book Drive

02/05/2017 to 04/05/2017
Tenafly NJ

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

My name is Jaden and I am in 7th grade. I think it is important to give back to your community and the world. I am planning a trip to Africa with my family and when I found the African Library Project web site, I thought it would be a great thing to do.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

I love to read and I'd like to spread the joy of reading. I am excited to collect books and donations. Together we can give a whole community a library.

About our African Partners...

The library will serve the community of Wungu, Ghana and will be located in T.I. Ahamadiya School. There are 485 students that attend the school. The population of Wungu is around 4700. In addition to T.I. Ahamadiya Primary and Junior High School, there are also two other Primary/Junior schools in Wungu and everybody will have access to the library. It is estimated that 800-1000 people will visit the library in the first year!

Please contribute these kinds of books...

Please contribute books that are appropriate for Pre-school to 8th grade. Also, educational games, puzzles, and any teacher resource materials such as books, lesson plans, posters and games aimed at improving teaching.

Here's how you can contribute your books...

Please bring the books to my home. You can email me directly for more information.

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

The books cost money to ship, so I am also asking for donations.

Please visit my GoFundMe page to make a donation. Thank you!!

Here are some ways that you can help...

Please donate books, educational materials and monetary donations. Let me know if you are interested in helping sort and pack the books at the end of the drive.
