  • Africa Access was founded in 1989 to help schools, public libraries, and parents improve the quality of their children’s collections on Africa. Their online database, Africa Access Review, contains over 1000 annotations and reviews of books for children.
  • The United Nations Literacy Decade (2003-2012) aims to extend the use of literacy to those who do not currently have access to it.
  • Peace Corps volunteers travel overseas and make real differences in the lives of real people. Find out how to apply, explore the world, read, volunteer at their website.
  • Read to Feed   This fun and educational site offers games, stories and book suggestions for children to learn about impoverished people around the world.
  • World Wise Schools   This site provides a wide range of lesson plans for grades 3 through 12, in particular relating to Africa, as well as Asia, eastern Europe and the Americas.
