Updated Book Drive Guidelines
October 21st, 2008With our recently awarded 501c3 status, the growth of our organization, in terms of book drives, libraries completed, and even board members, has really taken off. This growth has allowed us to update our website to be more useful to our volunteers, whereby in another endeavor to make organizing a book drive more engaging and fun, we have updated the Book Drive Guidelines section of our Resources page.
This fourteen page update includes all sorts of useful information, from how to plan your book drive, to collecting and sorting books, to information on packing, mailing, and shipping. The Book Drive Guidelines attachment also includes a brand new Fundraising Ideas section, which includes unique and humorously out-of-the-box ideas for collecting shipping funds. Included among these are “asking the principal or favorite teacher(s) if they will support your efforts by challenging the school to do something crazyif you reach your book and fundraising goals, like giving the principal a Mohawk haricut .” Or “contacting local clothing stores to see if they will donate clothes for an African Library Project fashion show.”
These ideas are just a brief sample of what our Guidelines section has to offer. So if you are just beginning a book drive, are conducting a follow-up book drive, or are just interested in learning more, click the above links, or navigate through our website to check out our updated Book Drive Guidelines section.
