Turn Books into Libraries...Your Donations Make it Happen

Stacked books 2017 3 opt 1

Volunteer book drive organizers take the first step to create a library in Africa by collecting 1000 gently used children’s books and about $500 to ship the books. ALP relies on your donations to turn those books into libraries.

Your donation supports

  • HIV/AIDS childrens reader sets to replace myths with facts
  • Training manual “How to Set Up and Run a Small Library in Africa”
  • Biennial Best Practices Summit for our partners and 100 teacher-librarians. (US delegates pay their own expenses, but ALP pays for partner and teacher-librarian expenses.)
  • Infrastructure expenses; for example database, website, social media.
  • Staff salary to oversee budget, supervise volunteers, and manage youth engagement and advocacy staff. (Their salaries are paid for by the Enlight Foundation grant, but our CEO’s time to manage grant activities is not.)

Since our founding in 2005, ALP has relied on the hard work and commitment of volunteers in many capacities. And we will never stop doing that! But as Chris Bradshaw, ALP Founder, said, “It takes both elbow grease and money to do this work.”

The generosity of our donors has helped us change lives. Please donate now to sustain our work.
