Me Theresa's classroom doesn't have heat or electricity but she generates a lot of energy explaining the importance of reading ...

On October 24, 2008 Yujin Gakuen Japanese Immersion Elementary School in Eugene, Oregon had a Fall Festival, called Akimatsuri. The Scholastic Book Fair was going on at the same time, so. they raised funds to purchase new books for the African Library Project and to sendbooks to Katrina disaster victims. The principal, Allan Chinn agreed to eat a bug if they could raise $200.... and they did, and he did! Here is the proof.

In December 2007, the students of Lincoln Elementary School in Troy, Missouri, collected books to start a library in Botswana through the African Library Project. The school principal challenged them to collect 4000 books for four libraries - and promised to get a mohawk haircut in a school assembly if they did. The kids came through, and now their inspiring leader needs a hat!

This Cinderella won't marry a prince, but the African Library Project offers you the opportunity to become a Fairy Godmother.
