Paisley Butterfly 13's "Rich Minds" Book Drive

07/12/2016 to 12/23/2016
Mobile AL

The African Library Project brings gently used books to an African community that has lots of eager readers but very few books. Please help by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It only takes 1000 books and $500 to start a single library (and a little elbow grease!)

This book drive is organized by ...

Paisley Butterfly 13 is a support group encouraging thyroid awareness for all through literacy with emphasis on children and women. Our current campaign is to help raise 1000 books for preschool to grade 4 children in Sierra Leone.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

Beginning a library in Africa matters because I believe that economics should not hinder any child's basic right or access to quality literature. I support initiatives in my community that provide books to children in households that cannot afford them and now that the opportunity exists to do so globally, I want to execute that. As an early childhood educator with advanced education in reading, I understand how important books and reading are to life success.

About our African Partners...

Sierra Leone has experienced substantial economic growth in recent years, although the ruinous effects of the civil war continue to be felt. The country is rich in diamonds and other minerals, too. Our organization wants to thwart war's lasting effects on children by making them mentally rich through literacy.

Please contribute these kinds of books...

I desire to collect 1000 books at U.S. pre-school to 4th grade reading levels to build a primary school library and $500 funds to assist in their shipping.

Here's how you can contribute your books...

Sylvan Learning Center in Spanish Fort, AL has agreed to host a collection box. Please contact Sylan Learning Center Director, Brigitte Harger, 27000 Bass Pro Drive, Spanish Fort, AL 36527, (251) 210-1337 or email paisleybutterfly13@gmail.com.

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...
