Monmoth County NJ

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Hi there! I'm Leah. I'm in eighth grade, going to high school in September. I've always wanted to volunteer somewhere in another country. I'd love to be able to explore the world someday. The African Library Project is a fabulous opportunity for me to affect people's lives in another country. I'm so excited to be a part of this! Thank you so much if you have contributed, it means the world to not only me but to the children in Africa who get to enjoy it! Your contributions are ALWAYS appreciated, whether you give one book or one hundred books.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

I want to start a library in Africa because I want to change the world. I want to bring a smile to someone's face who gets to have their very own book. I want to provide a community with the resources to become educated. I want African women off the streets and I want every child with food on their plate. I want girls my age not to feel inferior to men because they don't have the same access to literature as men do. I believe I can change the world, but I can't do it alone.

About our African Partners...

My African partner is the Nsamba Primary School in Malawi, Africa. I am the only book drive matched with this school!

Please contribute these kinds of books...

My library has requested Pre-School - 8th grade level books. They have specifically asked for an emphasis on Pre-School - 4th grade level books. However, any books are appreciated. Educational games and puzzles are also welcomed. If you are a parent and your children are participating in this, feel free to include a homemade bookmark so they can bring a little piece of the U.S. to Africa. You may donate gently used educational magazines, baby board books, atlases, encyclopedias, anything you can think of!

Here's how you can contribute your books...

My book drive is officially complete!

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

To ship books to Africa, it costs a total of about $500 + the cost of boxes, tape, and other packaging supplies. (Yikes!) Donations are greatly appreciated and I will work to the ends of the Earth to fundraise! For more information, find my contact information below. You can share fundraising ideas, or ask where to drop books off. To donate:

If you would like to write a check, please make it payable to the African Library Project and write the book drive code M8-35 in the memo field.

To make a donation online, go to www.africanlibraryproject.org, click on About Us, and then Donations.
Select Book Drive Shipping Donation and be sure to put the book drive code M8-35 in it's field and Leah Wilson in the Comment field.
This will direct you to PayPal where you can make a secure donation and you will be emailed a receipt.

Here are some ways that you can help...

To help, here are a few steps you can take:

Donate some money. Even some loose change is appreciated. I am very honest and responsible, all your money will go DIRECTLY to supplying the Nsamba Primary School with books and teaching materials! You can make a check payable to The African Library Project and write the book drive code M8-35 in the memo field. If you do not write M8-35, your donation will just go to the African Library Project Organization, not me. Or, you can make a donation online by going to www.africanlibraryproject.org, click on About Us, and then Donations.

Spread the word. Maybe it's time you finally emailed Aunt Linda back, and suggest she donated some money to a good cause. At least it's better than hearing her talk about Bingo Night for three hours....

Help me organize a fundraising event. Do you have a special talent, or some tips? Let me know about it! You can find my contact info down below!
