Inman Park Ghana Library Project

03/03/2015 to 04/12/2015
Atlanta GA

The African Library Project brings gently used books to an African community that has lots of eager readers but very few books. Please help by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It only takes 1000 books and $500 to start a single library (and a little elbow grease!)

This book drive is organized by ...

We are two sisters who have created three libraries for African Library Project in southern Africa. Now we are looking north, to Ghana, in advance of attending the ALP Summit in Ghana in November. One sister, Cathy, is Chris Bradshaw's sister-in-law and the other, Judy, is Chris Bradshaw's friend and Cathy's sister.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

We attended the Swaziland Summit in 2011 and had so much fun we want to go to the Ghana Summit in 2015! Help us create a library at Grace Academy in Accra, Ghana. Libraries are important everywhere on the globe!

About our African Partners...

Our partner is Grace Academy in Accra, a primary & junior high school.

Please contribute these kinds of books...

We need 1000 books at U. S. pre-school to 8th grade reading level. Also, atlases, maps, English language dictionaries and educational games. We welcome English language books, fiction and non-fiction. There are a few exceptions: no political books, nothing religious, no Western or U. S. holidays and no self-help books or books rooted too firmly in U. S. culture (i.e., Barbie Goes Shopping, for example)

Here's how you can contribute your books...

Drop off books at 206 Hurt Street, 30307 or call Cathy, 404-524-4190, or Judy, 404-523-9922. Or send emails to cbrad999@bellsouth.net or judyclements@me.com for pick-up from your location.

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

We need $500 to cover the cost of shipping books to New Orleans for loading on a container with other libraries bound for Africa. Checks should be made to us for shipping costs. We welcome donations in any amount.

Here are some ways that you can help...

Gather books from your friends and family. Ask them for a donation. Gather books from your organizations or your children's or grand-childrens' schools. Put a collection box at your church or local school. We need 1000 books and $500. If you cannot gather books, please send a check to either of us to pay shipping.
