Holloway's Book Drive for George Caltex Primary School

02/17/2015 to 04/30/2015
Tacoma WA

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Michael and Emily Holloway in Tacoma, Washington

We want to start a library in Africa because...

We understand how the power of reading can positively impact students’ lives. Reading is the basis for education and we want to contribute to the strength and success of education in South Africa.

About our African Partners...

Joe and Michelle Harper Kowalczyk have become dear friends over the past several years. When Joe and Michelle shared they were moving to South Africa to teach English we were excited to hear about the opportunity and were eager to know what we could possibly do to support their success. A few months after Joe arrived, he shared that he was working to build and support a library at George Caltex Primary School and asked if we would be willing to help. We were thrilled to learn about the ALP and what we could do to raise the literacy rate and life-long learning for the students of George Caltex Primary School.

Please contribute these kinds of books...

Gently-used books for pre-school through 8th grade reading levels.
