Karis' book drive for Ghana

12/12/2014 to 04/06/2015
Saint Johns FL

The African Library Project brings gently used books to an African community that has lots of eager readers but very few books. Please help by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It only takes 1000 books and $500 to start a single library (and a little elbow grease!)

This book drive is organized by ...

I am Karis Matheson and here is a little bit about me. I am nine years old and go to Cunningham Creek Elementary. I am in third grade, and Mr. Straw is my teacher. I love to read A LOT!

We want to start a library in Africa because...

It is sad that some people never get to read books in their life. I couldn't imagine not having any books. I want to help others to be able to get books to read from a library.

About our African Partners...

The books I collect will go to start a library in Subompong, Tepo, Ghana, where 500 students will be able to read the books. This community is very poor and they are excited about their new library. This library is their "dream-come-true." We all have books in our homes that we don't read anymore. Please think about donating them to this project and help make their dreams come true.

Please contribute these kinds of books...

Preschool through 4th grade reading level. Paperback books are wonderful - they don't cost as much to ship, but I will gladly accept hardback books too. Multicultural books are perfect.
