Miles & Ella's African Library Project

08/22/2014 to 03/06/2015
Canmore, Alberta

The African Library Project brings gently used books to an African community that has lots of eager readers but very few books. Please help by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It only takes 1000 books and $500 to start a single library (and a little elbow grease!)

This book drive is organized by ...

Miles & Ella, we are brother & sister who live in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. We plan to collect books between our birthdays, from Miles' 5th birthday until Ella's 8th birthday.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

We love to read & want to share the privilege of literacy with other children.

About our African Partners...

SWAZILAND
Fundza is a NGO that helps improve the quality of education in Swaziland schools. The word Fundza is a SiSwati word meaning "to learn" or "to read".

Please contribute these kinds of books...

For a primary school library: Books at pre-school to 4th grade reading level

Here's how you can contribute your books...

Between August 22 2014 & March 6 2015 we will have collection boxes set up at various locations in Banff, Canmore & Calgary. Please drop gently used books into any collection box - we will post specific locations shortly.
We can also pick up books from you if that is more convenient, especially for larger donations.

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

Donations can be mailed to PO Box 1868, Banff Alberta, T1L 1B7
Please make cheques payable to Wanessa or Tim Ricci to contribute to the cost of mailing books from Canmore to New Orleans and from New Orleans to Africa.

Here are some ways that you can help...

Let us know if you would like to hang a poster or display a collection box at your workplace, donate packing supplies (boxes, tape) or join us for a packing party.
