Books for Africa's Future - Change A Life with A Book Collection Drive

12/20/2013 to 02/15/2014
Hartford CT

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Books for Africa's Future -
We collect books and school supplies from donors, mostly in the U.S and coordinate shipping to needy Africa countries. We are using this drive to partner with ALP to help provide much needed books to start a library in Swaziland.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

Education is fundamental to any human endeavor. It offers great hope and a sense of personal security. We are in a unique position to make a difference. With the help of our donors and supporter, we can help bring this hope and security to many lives and communities across the continent.

If you have any books you are no longer in need off, someone else does and through our partnership with you, we can put a smile on someone’s face.

During this giving season, please consider working with us on this drive. You will be very glad you did.

About our African Partners...

We are partnering with ALP to complete a library in Swaziland. The children are very excited and eager to get these books and we intend to get it to them!

Please contribute these kinds of books...

Please donate for a secondary school in Swaziland. Books needed will be the equivalent of 4th to 8th grade in the United States.

Here's how you can contribute your books...

To donate, please drop of your books at one of the following locations (to be provided soon)

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

We need to raise $500 to ship the books to our partner's in Swaziland. In addition to handling all the logistical cost (shipping, handling etc.) I will make a $0.50 match for any dollar contributed. I will weekly updates on how much we have raised. I will also provide donor with a full list (no name if any wants to remain anonymous) of all donors and the amounts donated at the end of the drive. They will also get a special mention on my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/africasbooks.

Most of our fund raising will be through personal appeals (like this one). If you need anymore information to help you support this course or want to know how to donate, please send an email to collectforafrica@gmail.com and a volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible.

Here are some ways that you can help...

We are asking people to donate books or money to support this cause. If any of our potential donors have any ideas on how we can meet our goal of collecting 1000 books and $500, we are willing to listen, engage and to support. Send an email to us and we will respond right away.
