Contagious Smile Bookdrive for Africa

11/04/2013 to 05/11/2014
San Jose CA

The African Library Project brings gently used books to an African community that has lots of eager readers but very few books. Please help by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It only takes 1000 books and $500 to start a single library (and a little elbow grease!)

This book drive is organized by ...

Contagious Smile Bookdrive for Africa is a local bookdrive out of San Jose, CA. Our primary goal is to gather new and used books for children in Africa. When you donate a book to Contagious Smile Bookdrive, you are spreading smiles to the children in Africa. Books are a privilege for people all over the world. It's time to help raise awareness for Education in friendly Africa.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

We want to start a library in Africa because knowledge is a powerful tool. We need to raise the world literacy rate both nationally, but more importantly worldwide. Sending books to Africa is a great way to spread knowledge, but even better than that, starting a library could bring an entire community together. Spreading joy, laughter, and more importantly, knowledge through literacy throughout Africa is the primary goal for the book drive. Illiteracy is one of the biggest problems in the countries of Africa. Taking a book which has been outgrown and donating it to a great cause will not only help children across the world, but contribute to your self satisfaction.
