Lamar Key Club: African Library Project

01/15/2013 to 05/01/2013
Arlington TX

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Hi, this is the Key Club of Lamar High School, located in Arlington, Texas. We are a community service club.

About our African Partners...

Rural Education Committee School and Mountain Secondary School in Sierra Leone will be receiving our books!

Please contribute these kinds of books...

pre-school to 8th grade reading level
education magazines for kids or National Geographic
textbooks
dictionaries, thesauruses, atlases, encyclopedias
educational games and puzzles

Here's how you can contribute your books...

Bring books to Lamar High School, room 263. Or if you are acquainted with Lucy Lin, bring the books directly to her. Our books need to be shipped out by June 1, so please bring them by May 1.

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

Please donate money for shipping costs! We are taking donations at several elementary schools and junior highs. We are also planning to do a bake sale or car wash or some sort of event to fundraise. You can send money to either Mrs. Chamberlain or Lucy Lin.

Here are some ways that you can help...

- donate books
- donate money
- distribute flyers
- spread the word
