Walker Wright: South Keller Intermediate School

01/01/2013 to 02/25/2013
Keller TX

The African Library Project brings gently used books to an African community that has lots of eager readers but very few books. Please help by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It only takes 1000 books and $500 to start a single library (and a little elbow grease!)

This book drive is organized by ...

Walker Wright. I am a 5th grader at South Keller Intermediate School. I am doing this as my charity project for my GT class MAD project (making a difference). I like to read.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

I think it's a good idea. If you can learn to read when you are a child, you will have good fluency later. Even some grown ups in Africa can't read or, at the most, read elementary level.

About our African Partners...

We supplied THREE libraries, serving about 1000 kids total, in three Swaziland schools: Ngwane, St. Marks, and Lechwe light Primary School

Please contribute these kinds of books...

Pre-school to 4th grade level.

Here's how you can contribute your books...

Our book drive is complete. thank you!

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

My aunt Emma donated the shipping to get all the books to Louisiana. All I have to raise is the money to ship the three libraries to Africa. Send checks to my parents, payable to African Library project. We still need about $225.00

Here are some ways that you can help...

We got enough books for THREE libraries! Thank you!

Tips for Other Book Drive Organizers

Make sure you give people opportunities to know information about it. And, to remind them. Ask your principal for permission for announcements and flyers at your school. The packing party is a great idea -- all my friends had fun, and we packed everything in 2 hours, then ate pizza and played games.
