Hannah Wendlandt's Book Drive

11/03/2012 to 04/10/2013
Walnut Creek CA

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Hello! My name is Hannah Wendlandt. I'm a sophomore in high school in Northern California who enjoys dancing, cooking, and reading.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

Books widen the horizons with which one sees the world. They provide escape, joy, thought, and the chance to be more than yourself. I want to help people all over the world enjoy that experience.

About our African Partners...

Please contribute these kinds of books...

Books at U.S. Pre-School to 8th grade reading level, with an emphasis on 4th to 8th grade.
Please donate new or gently used books- we want our partners in Africa to use the books for years to come.

The book drive starts on November 3, 2012, and ends on April 10, 2013.
Contact Hannah at for donation information, such as possible places to drop off the books. Thanks!

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

$500 needs to be raised to ship the books to their final destination. Contact for donation information.

Here are some ways that you can help...
