Spelman College's Book Drive for Swaziland!

10/12/2012 to 11/21/2012
Atlanta GA

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Spelman College's English Club is full of young women who believe in the importance of literacy. The club's mission is to create a community of leaders who are focused on education, community service, politics and collaboration. We strive to spread the importance of these subjects through fun and creative ways that can attract everyone of every race, age and ethnic background.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

Our organization is dedicated to spreading the importance of literacy around the globe! We are always looking for new ways in which we can contribute to the cause of learning through reading. The African Library project is not only a way for us to achieve our goal of spreading literacy, but also to give back to those who are in need of our help. We want to start this library to decrease the ever growing numbers of children who are not given a proper education due to lack of materials.

Please contribute these kinds of books...

We are collecting books for a secondary school library in Swaziland. We will need books at the U.S 4th through 8th grade level.
