Bennett Johnson's Eagle Scout Project

08/28/2012 to 10/20/2012
Middleton WI

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

My name is Bennett Johnson and for my Eagle Scout Project I am doing a book drive to collect books to start a library in Botswana.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

Many kids in Africa don't have books but want to learn. I want to help them by giving them access to a library of books.

About our African Partners...

Khwee Primary School, Botswana

Please contribute these kinds of books...

For a pre-school/primary school library we need books at a U.S. pre-school to 4th grade reading level including: baby board books, paperback easy readers, paperback children's picture books, BIG books, children's fiction and non-fiction, paperback chapter books, K-8 textbooks (English, math, geography, science, but only one copy of each please), atlases and encyclopedias (less than 15 years old), paperback dictionaries.

Here's how you can contribute your books...

Drop them off in the bin in the lobby of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints anytime before October 20th. Or contact Bennett directly and he will arrange to pick up books.

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

Any donations to help with shipping the books would be appreciated.

Here are some ways that you can help...

If you would like to help with shipping and packing the books, please contact us.
