Jorden's Book Drive

08/25/2012 to 11/26/2012
Vancouver WA

The African Library Project brings gently used books to an African community that has lots of eager readers but very few books. Please help by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It only takes 1000 books and $500 to start a single library (and a little elbow grease!)

This book drive is organized by ...

My name is Jorden Jackson. I am a senior in high school this fall. I have a passion for education and global traveling. (the pictures are from visits schools in Belize and Peru) Reading has been one of my favorite pastimes for as long as I can remember. I couldn't even imagine life without reading or books. I am excited to work on this project to be able to provide children with the same opportunities as I was blessed with as a child.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

Ultimately, I hope to live in Zimbabwe and run a school that provides quality and safe education to people of all ages for no cost to them. As I am working on my own education, I am excited to bring a library to children in Lesotho attending the SOS Hermann Gmeiner Kindergarten.
