Parmida's Book Drive!

08/13/2012 to 12/08/2012
Whitby, Canada

The African Library Project brings gently used books to an African community that has lots of eager readers but very few books. Please help by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It only takes 1000 books and $500 to start a single library (and a little elbow grease!)

This book drive is organized by ...

My name is Parmida, I'm 16 years old and I love reading books! What I have noticed is that my friends and I have so many books that we never get a chance to enjoy anymore. Either we have gotten too old for the books, or we have read them enough times that we basically have them memorized! That is why I sought out to find a way to put the books to good use.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

I believe that literacy and education is fundamental to abolishing poverty. The gift of giving children books opens up a whole new world of opportunities.
