JSA: "Be the People"

04/01/2012 to 05/31/2012
Flushing OH

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Junior Statesmen of America (JSA.) JSA is the largest student run organization nation wide that focuses on civil engagement, leadership, and democracy. We have chosen to participate in the African Library Project because our national initiative focuses on education and what better way to execute this than building libraries! We are excited and cannot wait to see the end results.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

JSA wants to do this because literacy is the first step in a bright future. literacy gives people the skills necessary to better themselves and to make better their situations. Literacy allows for learning, communicating, and the exchange of ideas. With this we want to help the world one book at a time.
