Wish Upon a Book

1/2/2012 to 3/15/2012
Old Bridge NJ

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Priyanka Singh, I'm 19 years old and attend The College of New Jersey. I'm from Old Bridge, New Jersey and plan on building two libraries in Africa. Wish Upon a Book is a book drive that steers for a world with educated children. Decisions derive from knowledge and knowledge is procured from books. Please help me spread this knowledge and any input is beneficial to us! Thank You.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

As I was going through my basement, I came across old books that I read when I was a kid. I brought them upstairs to my room and planned on taking them to my local library. They sat in my room for days before I thought how the books I plan on donating will be, either sold or never even looked at. That upset me. I wanted other children to read those books and I wanted those stories that I once got lost in and captured by, to impact others. I thank Google for allowing me to come across this great organization. Reading increases knowledge and knowledge leads to better decision making. Sometimes one decision can change your whole life and impact you in a positive OR negative way. I hope these libraries full of pages drenched in knowledge will empower those kids to make better decisions day to day leading to a life of success and awareness.

About our African Partners...

Looking forward to hearing from them!

Please contribute these kinds of books...

No requests as of now...if the books don't meet the requirements, i'll still take them and send them because there could never be too many books to read!

Here's how you can contribute your books...

We are starting to collect books January 2nd, 2012 and hope to ship them out on March 2nd,2012. If you would like to ship any books for our cause, please send an email to one of the emails shown on this website and the address will be available to you.

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

Because of a wonderful grant that was given to the African Library Project, any book drive that wants to collect for more than one library will need to collect $700.00 whereas the shipping for every 1000 books is $500.00. If you would like to donate, by all means, please contact either of the two emails below where further information will be provided!

Here are some ways that you can help...

If there are books that you do not need, textbooks, dictionaries, etc; but no way of getting them to me, please contact one of the emails or my cell phone and I will certainly find a way for those books to reach me!
