Gift of Learning

OAKLAND CA

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Anyea Unique is an educator and yoga instructor destined to spark the light of others through learning and wellness of the mind, body and soul.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

Books have always been a large part of my life! Growing up with a mother who loved to read, I learned early the joy of independent reading and learning. Education has been pivotal in my growth as an individual; physically, spiritually and emotionally. My intention is to be able to give children across the world their own unique opportunity to grow; physically, spiritually and emotionally.

About our African Partners...

Vakpo Tod21 Basics Schools and Community Library hopes that the books we donate will aid their students by:
-broadening the scope of their education
-forming a reading club
-increasing access to a variety of books
-educating students and parents on the importance of a library.

Many of the students and parents wake up before the sun to complete house chores before school. Students are in school by 7:30 and end at 2:30 similar to our students in America. However, many of these students tend to farm work when school is out. This library will also improve the student's ability to conduct research and complete group work; critical aspects of a complete education.

Please contribute these kinds of books...
