Sachin and Vijay's Lesotho Book Drive

01/24/2018 to 05/15/2018
Frisco TX

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

This book drive is organized by ...

Me (Sachin Keshaav) and my brother (Vijay Keshaav) are creating a library for kids in Lesotho,Africa. This is our first book drive. Our goal is to create 10 book drives across Africa. I am in 5th grade and my brother is in 1st grade.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

I want to create a book drive because the kids in Africa need to read like us so they can also be literate and help the world become a better place. Kids in Lesotho also have dreams to be doctors, nurses, and etc. If they want to do that then they need books so that they can go to a good college and be the person they want to be. It's so sad to see that these kids haven't even read a book. Hope we as a community can bring smiles to these kids faces.

Please contribute these kinds of books...

Our goal is to create 10 libraries, so any extra books we collect will be donated towards my next book drive. Thank you!

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

For one library of 1000 books, we need to raise $150-$350 to mail the books to New Orleans warehouse by USPS and $250 to ALP to cover the international shipping cost of the container of libraries from New Orleans to African destination. This money goes directly to ALP and they will issue tax receipts directly to anyone who has donated.

To cover the international shipping cost ($250), you can donate directly to ALP using this link below. Please be sure choose “Book Drive Shipping Donation”; Book Drive Code – LE11-07 and include the following in the comment section: This donation is for Sachin Keshaav’s African Library Project, LE11-07.
