Books for Botswana

10/19/2010 to 01/31/2011
Paradise CA

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.

Hello!! My name is Breanna Crabtree, and in order to graduate from my high school, it is required that I do fifteen hours of service in an area that I am interested in. Please feel free to contact me or my mentor, Amy Behlke, if you are interested in donating books or funds. Thank you for supporting Books for Botswana!

We want to start a library in Africa because...

My whole objective in doing the African Library Project, is to improve children's education, particularly reading skills. I have been given the wonderful opportunity to receive an education, and I want the same for those in other countries, such as Africa. This project is not only a great way to learn and to grow; but a wonderful way to build others up in their desire to read.

Acknowledgements

Local elementary schools have been doing an AMAZING job in donating children's books. A huge thank you for all they have done. Paradise Elementary school, Ponderosa Elementary school, Paradise High school. Also a great response from close friends who have contributed many books. Mattern family, McKay family, Sypherd family. I haven't got around to counting the books yet, but I'm estimating there is about three hundred books.
