Share the Love Book Drive

01/29/2017 to 04/01/2017
VA

The African Library Project brings gently used books to an African community that has lots of eager readers but very few books. Please help by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It only takes 1000 books and $500 to start a single library (and a little elbow grease!)

This book drive is organized by ...

We are a group of sisters who want to share the love of books and reading. We strive every day to make the world a better place for children, whether it's through education, therapy, or motherhood. We have a passion for instilling a love of learning and reading in all children.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

We believe every human has the right to love, appreciate, and learn from books. We know that education in the most powerful tool we can use to help create more peace and love in the world. We also believe one act of kindness encourages another, and we hope this book drive will spark even more kindness and generosity in the world today.

About our African Partners...

Srapekrom M/A School is in the small town of Nsuta, which is located in the Ashanti region of Ghana. The school serves 300 students, most of whom come from farming families. This will be their first library and they are thrilled to be receiving these precious resources.

Please contribute these kinds of books...

We are in need of 1,000 new or gently used preschool through fourth grade level books. (Please help our book drive be as efficient as possible by pre-sorting your books to ensure they meet the requirements. Please do NOT send any books outside the preschool to fourth grade range, outdated text books, religious books, or badly damaged books.)

Here's how you can contribute your books...

We are collecting books now through April 1st. Please contact your closest team member by emailing us:

We need to raise funds for shipping the books...

We need to raise $500 to ship our books to their new home in Ghana. You can donate directly to our fund by visiting our GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/share-the-love-book-drive
(Unfortunately we are unable to offer tax receipts to donors. So, if you are doing this for the love, click the link above. If you need a tax receipt, please consider donating to another great cause.)

Here are some ways that you can help...

Share the love! You can donate the appropriate books by contacting one of our team members listed above. You can also contribute to our shipping fundraiser at https://www.gofundme.com/share-the-love-book-drive. Please also spread the word about our project to any friends or family member that shares our love of books and children.
