African Library Project

Tati is doing a book drive (again)

8/11/2012 to 5/15/2013
Palo Alto CA

The African Library Project brings gently used books to an African community that has lots of eager readers but very few books. Please help by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It only takes 1000 books and $500 to start a single library (and a little elbow grease!)

This book drive is organized by ...

My name is Tatiana and I am 17. I have started 9 libraries on my own and many more with others. I have an organization called spread the words which works to promote literacy in Africa. My favorite part about starting a library is reading the books and knowing they are going to people who really value them.

We want to start a library in Africa because...

I have seen the effects of giving a library firsthand and I want to spread that joy and learning to even more libraries.

(updated: 8/10/12)
487 books $0 fundraising

I started my first library when I was 12. If a 12 year old can do it, anyone can do it.

Thanks to Chris Bradshaw. She's truly the best. :)

Tips for Other Book Drive Organizers

Set up a stand at your school, work, or in a place where many people go and ask people to donate! It's that simple.
